Joel Gabrielsson is a musician and interdisciplinary artist who has taken part in numerous musical collaborations. Over the years, he has also moved through a range of disciplines—first studying and working within contemporary dance and performance art, and later transitioning into electroacoustic music.
These influences continue to shape his often evocative musical pop projects, ranging from the off-kilter electronica of his late moniker Flyinglow to his ventures into indie singer-songwriter territory, where he released three eponymous EPs.
His debut, Citadel, released on Jivvär Records (2021) in collaboration with Manne von Ahn Öberg, known for his work with Stina Nordenstam, brought him wider international attention and earned favourable reviews, including being described as a “pop curiosity” by Rolling Stone (FR).
His follow-up releases, Hallucinations of Nikola and A Flower Behind, the latter his follow up on Jivvär Records released in June 2025, push further into electronic pop exploration while continuing to excavate themes relating to his nomadic past, growing up in a deeply religious setting in Asia and later on residing in different countries.
Joel is also one half of the electronic duo Aery, which released its debut album ‘Nowhere Stranger’ in the fall of 2025 to favourable reviews.
He is currently recording a new album to be released in 2026.
